Amy Houchens, CMT, COMT
CERTIFIED HAND THERAPIST
CERTIFIED ORTHOPEDIC MANUAL THERAPIST
As a licensed healthcare provider for over 25 years, hand therapist Amy Houchens, PT, CHT, COMT, can quickly recognize your problem and personalize the LASER treatment protocol to fit your needs.
Amy uses her knowledge of anatomy and physiology to treat not only the painful site but associated tissues that are "upstream" of the pain. For example, using LASER on the forearm will help increase blood flow to the hand.
When used in the acute post-injury time frame, patients can show improvement in only a few sessions. For those with more severe or chronic conditions, it may require ten or more sessions.
Amy also practices many other techniques and treatments which she can recommend in addition to Laser Therapy or as an alternative approach.

How LASER Therapy Works
Photobiomodulation (PBM) is the process in which the laser produces an impulse of light at a specific wavelength (810nm or 980nm) to drive energy deep into a targeted area. The light penetrates to the desired depth and the energy is absorbed by the cells, triggering a biological process that releases natural, beneficial chemicals that aid in reducing inflammation and pain, while increasing circulation, cell repair, and regeneration.
The FDA has cleared LASER treatment for various chronic and acute pain complaints.
